Arnold Leung is the Founder of Appnovation.
What was the company’s journey like to get to where it is now?
I founded Appnovation about 11 years ago right out of the University of BC. At Appnovation, we drive digital innovation to enable a better-connected world that allows for much better customer experience, much better user experience and enables people to know more about what they can get from digital applications. For example, we help the national health authority in the UK, the NHS deliver their blood donation and organ transplant programs to ensure that patients are getting the best care that they can get.
What is it about your company’s culture that drives success?
At Appnovation, we have no barriers in communication between our teams. There’s not much of a hierarchy. We want to ensure we get the best out of our team members, enable them to be creative and find solutions to problems. That’s why openness is so important for our success.
How do you as a leader ensure that your culture, is a culture, that creates success?
As a leader, I drive success by empowerment. At Appnovation, we empower teams to make a lot of decisions. A lot of them have the freedom to make choices. This kind of freedom and empowerment allows us to be a creative and innovative company.
What’s Next for Appnovation?
We hit about 50 million dollars in revenue this year with about 300 staff members globally. We want to double that up in the coming few years and grow globally beyond where we are right now. Right now we are in the US, Canada, UK, Belgium, Netherlands and Hong Kong. Our sights are on the rest of Europe. I would describe Appnovation as an innovative, culturally vibrant, exciting company for people to work at and I would welcome anybody who is looking for opportunities in the technology area to come to apply for positions at our company.
